Sometimes images just fall into place. I think the word for it is serendipity. This is one from my first visit to Barcelona – many years ago now. It was taken close to the entrance of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya.
What caught my eye was the bronze sculpture and how it sat nicely within the lines of ornate lamp standards and flagpoles in the background.
But then something magic happened. The man in the background stepped into the frame. And stood there for about thirty seconds. In exactly the right place to provide a perfect symmetry with the bronze figure.
Picture taken, he then ambled away entirely unaware of his vital contribution to a small perfect moment.
The sculpture, Summer Torso, is the work of the renowned French artist Aristide Maillol.
