Damhsa

Members of the Irish dance group Damhsa in full flight. For those unfamiliar with the Irish language, damhsa literally means dance. But here’s the bit that causes endless confusion for our visitors – and indeed for many Irish people too. Funny things happen when a consonant is followed by the letter “h”. So in this case damhsa is pronounced dow-sa.
