Cliffs Of Moher Rain

A must-do for every visitor to West Clare should be to take a walk along the Cliffs of Moher.

But certainly not on a day like this!

Here the iconic cliffs are barely visible, blanketed by a heavy summer squall sweeping in from the Atlantic. But glimmers of sunlight are already making an appearance from the west. Within minutes, Ireland’s most popular coastal view was fully visible again.

The coastal walking route between Doolin to Hag’s Head – which includes several other spectacular cliff views – is probably the finest in Ireland.

However it gets a bit crowded in the vicinity of the interpretive centre. But as happens at major tourist attractions all over the world, the guided bus tour visitors rarely venture beyond the main viewing area.

Which makes the rest of the walking route an absolute joy to experience.
